On Wednesdays We Wear Brown Lip
Wednesday, May 25, 2016Throughout spring, my love for brown lipstick has been increasing with a speed of light. It's quite a new thing for me as I used not to be fond of this shade because I thought it rather didn't suit my complexion. However, whilst cleaning out my makeup, I came across a lipstick, which has been left untouched since autumn.
I believe this L'Oreal lippie in the shade Java Jolt has already appeared briefly in one of my older blog posts around October last year. After photos for that post had been taken I simply put it back in my lipstick organizer and only started using it again in April. Let me just tell you something: since rediscovering this beauty, I have been wearing it for about 6 days out of a week and then one day's left for the occasional red lip. Looking back now, I can not imagine how could I dare to left Java Jolt out! Additionally, I now prefer the look of brown lips to any other shades. In my opinion, it's the golden mean if you have slightly grown bored of neutrals, yet don't feel comfortable enough to move on to bold lipstick. Besides, I find makeup with brown lips to be the perfect choice for when I'm both short on time and still want some sort of decent makeup.
Obviously, for such shade of lipstick creating a flawless base is nothing but a must. My go-to products for this step are currently Maybelline Baby Skin primer, L'Oreal Infallible 24H foundation, NYX HD concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte powder and Maybelline Master Sculpt - for me, it's a match made in heaven. Blusher should preferably be a natural, 'the barely there' shade. I usually reach for Max Factor Creme Puff one in Lavish Mauve, which is a very pretty dusty pink blush. For the I'm-in-a-rush eye makeup, I grab Makeup Revolution Girls On Film palette, which contains beautiful shimmery shadows as well as a few matte ones, and simply apply a combination of sparkling eyeshadows all over the lid. If I have some time left I'll then slightly thicken the lash line with black eyeliner. And the last step is, of course, Java Jolt.
I mastered this makeup so well that it takes me about 12 minutes to finish it. That's my own record as I had never managed to do my whole face this fast before, ha! :D
