Am I Faking It?

Friday, August 21, 2015

Apparently now by both, men and women, wearing makeup is considered to be a lie. "What are you hiding there?" they ask. Here comes a huge surprise. I hide nothing.

My experiments with makeup began about two yeas ago when I was gifted a little Clinique palette for Christmas. It was nothing too crazy, just two neutral eyeshadows and a blush. Of course I didn't know much about makeup, but in my opinion journey of discovering beauty world and learning lots of interesting makeup tricks is one of the most exciting experiences that happened in my life. Sounds pretty cheesy and pathetic, however I do really like makeup or how different products designed or how you can enhance your natural beauty or actually turn yourself into another person. I mean, what is wrong with it? I couldn't care less whether a person who sits in from of me wears makeup or not yet that is a pain in ass for many other people.

From the very bottom of my heart, I hate how there is such opinion as you are only obsessed with stuffing your face with makeup if your self-esteem is dipping at the bottom of the ocean. No, no and one more time no. Sometimes my favourite foundation and bronzer boost my confidence, but never defines me. When I fill in eyebrows that doesn't exactly mean I don't have ones. I simply like to give them more definition, not to my esteem. How the hell are those two absolutely different things related? I will never nor want to understand it.

Another part of society that drives me insane are those that shame people for wearing makeup. JESUS CHRIST, YOU ARE THE BIGGEST BLOMMING LIAR ON THIS PLANET!11! Please accept my sincere apology, I feel sorry for you and your miserable attitude. Nowadays despite of having fat, skinny, slut shaming, we also have makeup shaming! That honestly amaze me to that point that I hope they will be swallowed by earth anytime soon. Hello, yes, I have makeup on and you don't need to point at my face, thank you. Mind your own business. Just because you aren't a fan of something, doesn't mean nobody likes it.

Makeup simply can not be equated to lie, there is a big difference.Well, if you think my eyelids are gold and shimmery of nature, then it is you who has a problem. Definitely not me.

Have you ever faced with this problem? Can you agree that wearing makeup means being fake?

  1. Fab post Yana. It's so sad that our society is so judgemental because whatever we do we will get judged. This reminds me of Em's video 'You Look Disgusting' - she gets hate whether she is or isn't wearing makeup, there is just no pleasing some people!

    1. It's just dumb how people turn wearing makeup into number one problem when we actually have quite a lot of serious real issues that need to be solved.

    1. I think judgemental people must care about their lives more rather than bully others. It would be cool if they used their energy in a more positive way.

  3. I don't feel like happiness in ourselves or our self-confidence is something that should be judged. It is probably true that many people use make up to make them feel better about themselves, or maybe conceal a pimple or something. Which they have the right to do. But in many cases, make up is used to highlight our best features. I have nice eyes so I like doing eye make up that makes them stand out. If something makes us happy or feel better why shouldn't we be able to do it? Who cares what anybody else thinks? You could argue that wearing black clothes to make yourself appear slimmer is a way of hiding yourself but nobody has ever argued about that.

    1. Lol, if they're going to start judging black clothes, I'm leaving this planet. I would give anything just to turn our world in less judgemental and happier place.

  4. Don´t know where to start on this case, it´s so stupid I´m not able to phrase myself correctly - it angers me so much haha! How can people say these things? Seriously. Makeup shaming, jesus I HATE people who does this. They sit there on their high horses with their pale grayish faces and and undone hair - fair enough you wanna look like you just got outta bed, fine, I don´t =D Haha.. No but for real, I don´t understand the reality of the people telling others wearing makeup is fake. It´s just... No...Bury me...I CAN`T EVEN hahahah...:P
Btw, anyone else hate people saying this to you?
*you wear a lot of makeup tho, you should let your skin BREATHEHEHEH* oh shut the fudge up!!

    1. I had couple of girls/women telling me this. You're too young to wear makeup and blah, blah, blah... You're using too many skin care products, blah, blah, blah... I can't help but roll my eyes. You do you, I do me.

  5. Brill post! I have definitely felt really insecure when wearing make up before because of judgmental eyes - not the other way round! If I want to wear a red lipstick to do my food shopping, how does that concern you??? I love wearing make up as I feel like it's a form of art. I love learning new techniques and playing with new products - it's actually fun x x x

Completely agree with you. I think such people have to care about the way they look, not someone else.
