Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Since seeing snaps of the new Vivid Matte liquid lipsticks all over on the official Maybelline Instagram I have been literally dying to get my hands on these goodies. After weeks and weeks of waiting, they had been finally launched in my local drugstore shops! It took me two minutes of fangirling and hours of swatching - my hands looked something between funny and horrendous - until satisfied smile appeared on my face and I made my way to checkout.

I decided to pick up two shades out of ten available: Nude Flush and Possessed Plum. To be honest, these ones stood out the most for me! Nude Flush is a lovely pink-ish nude, which looks nothing but stunning on lips. Safe to say, it is the first pink lipstick I actually enjoy wearing. Yay! The other one, Possessed Plum, is a rich dark maroon - I can tell I'll be rocking this shade throughout autumn as well as winter.

I think the best about Maybelline Vivid Matte liquid lippies is their incredible pigmentation. The most intense colours in my growing lipstick collection. However, has to be mentioned the fact that, for example, Possessed Plum on lips differs from what you see in the tube. I would say it is more warm toned and less of a plum shade.

Although Maybelline claims these to be matte, I can only half-agree with such statement. The texture of Vivid Matte lipsticks is quite creamy that takes up to a few minutes to dry down. However, even after that, it neither feels nor looks like a matte liquid lipstick. Rather a velvet one. Personally, I don't find this to be irritating or disappointing: - I still love these beautiful lipsticks. Still, maybe adding 'matte' to the name wasn't exactly the best idea.

I reckon that whilst having another makeup shopping trip I will buy a few more shades. Nude Thrill and Orange Shot are probably the next ones on my list! Did I unintentionally make the previous sentence sound overdramatic like a line from a horror film? Oops :D

On Wednesdays We Wear Brown Lip

Throughout spring, my love for brown lipstick has been increasing with a speed of light. It's quite a new thing for me as I used not to be fond of this shade because I thought it rather didn't suit my complexion. However, whilst cleaning out my makeup, I came across a lipstick, which has been left untouched since autumn.

I believe this L'Oreal lippie in the shade Java Jolt has already appeared briefly in one of my older blog posts around October last year. After photos for that post had been taken I simply put it back in my lipstick organizer and only started using it again in April. Let me just tell you something: since rediscovering this beauty, I have been wearing it for about 6 days out of a week and then one day's left for the occasional red lip. Looking back now, I can not imagine how could I dare to left Java Jolt out! Additionally, I now prefer the look of brown lips to any other shades. In my opinion, it's the golden mean if you have slightly grown bored of neutrals, yet don't feel comfortable enough to move on to bold lipstick. Besides, I find makeup with brown lips to be the perfect choice for when I'm both short on time and still want some sort of decent makeup.

Obviously, for such shade of lipstick creating a flawless base is nothing but a must. My go-to products for this step are currently Maybelline Baby Skin primer, L'Oreal Infallible 24H foundation, NYX HD concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte powder and Maybelline Master Sculpt - for me, it's a match made in heaven. Blusher should preferably be a natural, 'the barely there' shade. I usually reach for Max Factor Creme Puff one in Lavish Mauve, which is a very pretty dusty pink blush. For the I'm-in-a-rush eye makeup, I grab Makeup Revolution Girls On Film palette, which contains beautiful shimmery shadows as well as a few matte ones, and simply apply a combination of sparkling eyeshadows all over the lid. If I have some time left I'll then slightly thicken the lash line with black eyeliner. And the last step is, of course, Java Jolt.

I mastered this makeup so well that it takes me about 12 minutes to finish it. That's my own record as I had never managed to do my whole face this fast before, ha! :D

NYX HD Concealer

Cheers for my first ever concealer review, LOL. The thing is I'm picky as hell when it comes to purchasing and using this makeup product. As dramatic as it sounds, that's such a struggle to find a decent concealer, which would perform the best on you! Around April time I finally got my hands on few NYX goodies and one of them was NYX HD concealer. According to a couple of websites, it is actually among NYX's bestselling products. Long story short, let's see if it worth checking out.

HD concealers come in quite a variety of shades with different undertones, which means there's most likely to be the one that would match your skin tone almost perfectly. Additionally, if you want to up your makeup game even more, try out the pastel yellow, lavender and green ones for colour correction.

The formula is creamy and lightweight, yet the concealer provides medium to full coverage. It is also super pigmented, so you won't need to use that much of the actual product. Another thing I have already noticed about NYX HD concealer is that it works better with setting powder. If you don't use one or accidently forgot to apply it, let's just say, the situation will turn into a nightmare. As a result, the concealer will fine every, even the smallest, line, especially in the under-eye area. However, with a little help of powder HD concealer does work miracles and last throughout the day for many hours.

Personally, I use it for covering both dark circles and any blemishes/spots that might appear out of nowhere on the days when I have to look my best. I guess, my body just loves me too much. Anyway. Fair to say, NYX HD concealer is the most amazing concealer I have ever tried out! It never leaves my skin looking patchy, dull and cakey. Besides that, I absolutely love using it for dark circles. One swipe with the wand, a bit of blending, setting powder, BOOM, you can now fool people you were sleeping in the night and not scrolling through Instagram.

To be honest, I don't find the powder thing to be very annoying, but there is another fact, which is always getting on my nerves. Had never seen other people complaining about this before though, I might simply be the winner in life. Basically, do you see the black letters on a packaging? Yup, those that have almost disappeared now. Every time I pick up this concealer, my hands are covered in black paint, which is super irritating if you prefer blending concealer with the fingers.

Overall, I think NYX HD concealer is da bomb. There are few cons, but they don't overweight the pros!

My High-street Makeup Must-haves

As much as everyone loves high-end makeup brands, there are some of us who can't splurge that much on makeup because of different reasons. To be honest, I think there are products you should spend more on and sometimes it's rather rational to safe. If you would like to read more about this topic, then make sure you check out my Save or Splurge post! Personally, I do treat myself to expensive makeup goodies every now and then, but the majority of my collection contains, obviously, high-street products and here are my most favourite ones.

When buying foundations, I trust with this mission such brands as L'Oreal and Rimmel. I had gone through different L'Oreal foundations, yet they never disappointed me. It's almost impossible not to find the product that would match your skin tone as the range of shades, quality, the variety of finishes and textures is quite impressive here as for drugstore. As you may know from my review here, I am currently using Infallible 24H one and every day I find myself loving it even more. When it comes to Rimmel, don't even ask me about Wake Me Up foundation because I won't shut up for a good few hours. If you're looking for a product that will give you gorgeous dewy finish, then it is the one!

Another product from Rimmel that I can't live without is Stay Matte powder. Goodbye, gross glare and oily shine!

Would it be a post about high-street must-haves without mentioning Maybelline? At the moment, my top three product are Master Sculpt, Baby Skin primer and, last but not least, Lash Sensational ~~aka best mascara ever~~. In general, I think it's safe to say that Maybelline is one of my favourite makeup brands!

For some odd reasons Creme Puff blushers are the only things I tried from Max Factor! BUT they are probably my most used cheek products. No jokes, I think I have been using Lavish Mauve since the day I bought it and rarely ever touched other blushers. If you fancy continuing to read my ramble, the review is here.

Now it's time for the most exciting part: LIP PRODUCTS!

Once again, I don't want to turn this post into a huge novel, so, long story short, my go-to lipsticks are the one from Rimmel and Bourjois. The pigmentation, longevity, rich variety of colours - basically, everything you need from the lipsticks, these brands are here to offer it. If you're a fan of lip liners, then definitely check out such Rimmel ones as Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses and Exaggerate Automatic.

Trying Out L'Oreal Infallible 24H Foundation

I might or might not I have a thing for L'Oreal foundations. In my opinion, they are the best ones you can find in the drugstores! So when a sad moment came and I ran out of my trusty True Match, I already knew I will end up standing in front of L'Oreal counter again.

If you read my previous post, you already know that although I enjoyed using True Match, when it comes to foundations I prefer experimenting, so instead I picked up the Infallible Stay Fresh 24 Hours foundation. Do I need coverage for 24 hours? Nope. Nonetheless, that fact attracted me to this product like bees to the honeypot. Anyway, let's see what the fuss is all about.

This foundation has slightly thicker formula than the one that I'm used to. It provides medium to full coverage, depending on how much product is applied. However, I need to point out that it isn't super cakey and gross on skin. In contrast, once blended well, it feels weightless and doesn't melt down at all.

Infallible Stay Fresh has a really nice semi-matte finish. My skin type is combination and I tend to get oily on the forehead throughout the day. But this goodie, alongside Rimmel Stay Matte powder(read my review here), keeps me non-shiny for hours and hours. Following this further, I don't think I would suggest it to those of you who have very dry skin: you might end up with dry patches.

Oh, and let's have a moment to fangirl over the scent of it. That typical L'Oreal makeup scent. Am I the only one who absolutely adores it?

I haven't had chance to test out if Infallible 24 Hours foundation stays on for the entire day, but I have this strong feeling it would actually hold up to what it promises. Overall, this is an amazing product and I have nothing but only positive things to say about it.

The Lip Product TAG

Last week I was kindly tagged by the lovely Kay, who runs the blog called Shoes And Glitter, to do The Lip Product TAG. Thanks a million! If you have been following my blog for a while now, you might know how much I love lippies, so, needless to say, how much excited I am to jump on the bandwagon and write this tag.

What is your favourite balm or treatment?

Over the previous year, I have developed some sort of lip care routine which consists of the famous Lush Bubblegum lip scrub and Carmex lip balm. Thanks to these products I now have forgotten what is it like to have dry and chapped lips! Firstly I remove dead skin cells with the scrub and then add lip balm for extra hydration. Usually, I repeat this routine every morning and evening alongside my skin care routine.

What is your favourite eye-catching red?

I have two favourite red lipsticks. One of them is with the matte finish, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in "Frambourjoise" and another is with rather sheer finish, Rimmel Kate Moss in 31. They are quite similar except for the fact that Rimmel one has slightly berry-ish undertone.

Best luxury and drugstore product? and also, Best MAC lipstick?

I decided to combine these two questions in one because my favourite high-end lipstick happens to be MAC Velvet Teddy. Needs any long rambles, I guess. From a drugstore I've been loving Maybelline Intense Velvet lip pencil in "Nude Perfection" for a long time. Ridiculously, but it is pretty much a dupe for Velvet Teddy. I'm simply obsessed with such nude shades!

Most disappointing lip product?

Luckily, I have never come across any bad lip products. Maybe there are a few, however, I can't even name them as most likely I threw them into a bin with the speed of light :D

Lip liner: yes or no?

I am too lazy for lip liner when doing everyday makeup though I tend to reach out for them if I'm doing makeup for any special occasions.

Favourite lip gloss?

See the thing is I rarely wear lip glosses, so I find it hard to even think of the one I like the most. Frankly speaking, I am not a fan of them. Whatever brand I try, they are always too sticky and I simply can't stand that formula on my lips.

Max Factor Blushers

Not a long time ago I got my hands on gorgeous Max Factor Creme Puff blushers. These were on sale, so as I wanted to add some new blush shades in my collection, obviously I couldn't resist buying them. Hearing lots of positive reviews on these Max Factor blushes I already new they are going to be good.But who knew they are going to be that good.

The ones that I went for are Lavish Mauve and Gorgeous Berries. Two shades are quite the opposite yet I love them just equally. They have a really great pigmentation, glide onto cheeks perfectly and blend out as nicely. I think you can't tell it from the photos, but these blushes are slightly shimmery and give you a super healthy glow, so it is actually possible to use highlighter afterwards without looking like some kind of shiny alien. Their texture is extremely soft and feels luxurious on skin. Besides that, Creme Puff blushers are claimed to be dupes for Hourglass.

Now on the shades, I have to say that right now I reach out for Lavish Mauve more frequently. It is a stunning dusty pink colour with brown undertones. Usually I wouldn't chose pink as for my blush choice, however, this one is more on a natural side and looks nothing but fantastic with my skin tone. I would also recommend it for those of you who have pale skin! In addition, I know how difficult it is to find the right blush shade if you are going for lots of eyeshadows, but Lavish Mauve can be easily worn with smokey eye makeup and it won't look crazy or strange.

Name of Gorgeous Berries speaks for itself. For me, purchasing this shade was more of a experiment, because I always stay away from bright or dark blushes. As weird as it is, I have this fear that at the end I might turn out looking like clown with good ol' stain of product on the cheeks. I mean, for some people wearing a red lipstick is already a challenge and I have this thing with such blushes. Surprisingly, with this one I haven't had this problem. I grabbed the tiniest amount of product on the makeup brush, pop it on my cheeks, did a bit of blending and received one of the most beautiful berry shades I have ever seen.

Basically, I was a huge idiot for not trying out these goodies earlier. I think I am going to buy some more of Max Factor Creme Puff blushers because they are simply amazing and that is it.
